Inaugural Mother’s Day Tea

teaFriends of Mary Ryder Home gathered for the first annual Mother’s Day Tea on Saturday, May 7th. “This will be the first step in possibly forming a committee to plan a marvelous spring 2017 event,” said Barbara Pierce, Mary Ryder Home Board member and event organizer. Hosted at Mary Ann’s Tea Room in the Central West End, guests learned about our mission and enjoyed a traditional English afternoon tea that included a tiered presentation of scones, finger sandwiches, and an assortment of mini desserts, petit fours, and chocolate dipped strawberries.

The party’s talented server also surprised and impressed the tea attendees with his classical renditions at the grand piano located in the dining area. In honor of their mothers, grandmothers and aunts, guests made special gifts to the Home and raised over $1,400 for our Residents.

Mary Ryder Home participated in the 3rd Annual Give STL Day on Tuesday, May 3rd despite technical issues.

Mary with Lemons

Hello friends,

Well when life hands you lemons, you make lemonade! Thank you for sticking with us during the Give STL Day website glitches and supporting my lovely Residents! Even with all of the confusion, we were able to raise $2,250 for a new Welch Allyn all-in-one portable vitals monitor. (And that number may go up depending on supporters who may have called the phone bank, keep your fingers crossed!) Thank you again for bringing laughter, hope and healing into the lives of my
Residents.

Best Wishes,

Mary Ryder
