Memorial and Tribute Gifts:
Pay tribute to a family member or friend by making a gift in their honor. Gifts can be in memory of someone or in honor of an event, such as a birthday, wedding anniversary or other special occasion. An acknowledgement of your gift will be sent both to you, as the donor, and to the person you designate.
Gifts of Appreciate Assets:
Mary Ryder Home is also able to accept gifts of stocks, bonds, and other securities. Sometimes making a gift of appreciated stocks can provide advantages to you when compared to making a cash donation. You can deduct the fair market value of the qualified non-cash property with no capital gains tax, provided you have held the asset for more than one year. If the securities have lost value, you could see additional advantages by selling the securities and giving the proceeds to Mary Ryder Home, which would allow you to claim the charitable deduction for the gift, as well as claim the capital loss.
Many companies support their employees’ philanthropic efforts by matching all or a part of their charitable gifts. Check with your human resources department to find out if and how your company matches.
Corporations can support our mission and promote their brands to like-minded individuals by choosing to sponsor a special event. Mary Ryder Home’s signature event is our Dinner and Auction held annually in March. Visit our News and Events page for more details on upcoming events.
You can also receive a tax deduction for donations of new or gently used tangible items for use by the Home and/or our Residents.
Effective charitable gift planning can help you increase your current income or protect your estate. Gift planning allows you to obtain valuable tax advantages as well as ensuring your legacy of providing help to the Seniors that Mary Ryder Home serves. Some of the most common types of planned gifts are:
- A bequest in your will
- Gifts of life insurance
- Charitable gift annuity
